Holi in Sangla Valley is part of the traditional Faguli Festival, a 4-day cultural celebration marking the end of winter and the arrival of spring in Kinnaur.
Unlike commercial Holi celebrations, Sangla Holi is rooted in local rituals and community traditions. Processions begin from the Nag Temple, led by villagers, with traditional songs, masked dances, and symbolic performances inspired by local folklore and epics.
Celebrations take place in village courtyards, where people gather, share food, locally brewed Angoori wine, and celebrate together – calmly, respectfully, and joyfully.
Set against the snow-covered peaks of the Baspa Valley, Sangla Holi offers a rare combination of culture, nature, and seasonal beauty. Itβs not about loud music or chemical colours, but about experiencing Holi the way it has been celebrated in the Himalayas for generations.

Arrive at Shimla early in the morning. This halt is a brief transit stop and not a hotel stay. Participants will get time to freshen up and have breakfast before continuing the journey.

After breakfast, continue the scenic drive towards Sangla, travelling through mountain roads, valleys, and river stretches as the landscape slowly turns more alpine. By evening, arrive in Sangla and check in to the stay.

Dinner will be served at the stay, followed by a relaxed overnight rest in the quiet Himalayan surroundings.

Start the day early in Sangla with breakfast at the homestay. The day is dedicated to experiencing local Holi celebrations, where the festival is observed in a traditional and community-driven way.
Participants will get the opportunity to witness and be part of the celebrations, enjoying colours, local music, and the festive atmosphere that fills the village during Holi. You may also visit nearby local temples or join small community gatherings, depending on how the celebrations unfold.
The evening is kept relaxed, allowing time to unwind, interact with locals, and soak in the unique Himalayan Holi experience. Dinner will be served at the stay, followed by an overnight stay in Sangla.
Begin the day with breakfast in Sangla, after which we start the drive towards Chitkul, famously known as the last inhabited village near the IndoβTibetan border. Spend some relaxed time exploring the village and taking in the raw Himalayan surroundings.
Later, continue the journey towards Kalpa, enjoying scenic mountain roads, deep valleys, and constant views of snow-clad peaks throughout the drive.
By evening, arrive in Kalpa and visit Suicide Point, a well-known viewpoint offering dramatic panoramic views. After the visit, proceed to check in at the stay.

Please note that temperatures in Kalpa can drop to around β15Β°C. Hot water is provided through geysers, but heating may take time due to extreme cold. Patience is required.

Start the day early in Kalpa with breakfast at the stay. After check-out, begin the return journey towards Shimla, driving back through the familiar mountain roads and valleys one last time.
By evening, reach Shimla and halt for dinner, marking the final mountain stop of the journey. Take a moment to absorb the surroundings and bid farewell to the hills.
Post dinner, continue the overnight journey back to Delhi, carrying back memories of Holi celebrations, Himalayan landscapes, and the shared travel experience.
