Hampta Pass is a dramatic crossover trek in Himachal Pradesh that connects the lush green Kullu Valley to the stark desert beauty of Spiti. Standing at 14,035 ft, it offers an ever-changing landscape—dense pine forests, blooming wildflowers, snow patches, and glacier crossings. The trail ends with a thrilling drive to Chandratal Lake, a crescent-shaped high-altitude lake known as the “Moon Lake” of Spiti. Its crystal-clear turquoise waters reflect the mighty Himalayas, creating an unforgettable visual. Perfect for beginners with a taste for adventure, this trek offers the rare experience of witnessing two contrasting worlds in just five days.

ITINERARY

DAY 1Manali ➝ Jobri ➝ Trek to Chika (9,800 ft)

Morning: Assemble in Manali by 9 AM. After breakfast and gear check, drive through the scenic Prini village and continue along the Rani Nallah to Jobri (9,400 ft) – the trek starting point.
Trek Begins: Start the trek to Chika, an easy 2-hour walk through forest trails lined with maple, deodar, and birch trees. You’ll cross wooden bridges and streams with views of the Dhauladhar range.
Camp at Chika: Surrounded by open meadows and a bubbling stream, this campsite is peaceful and perfect for a relaxed evening.

DAY 2Chika ➝ Trek to Balu Ka Gera (12,411 ft)

Morning: After breakfast, begin the gradual ascent toward Balu Ka Gera (means “bed of sand”). The trail passes through lush alpine meadows, waterfalls, and river crossings.
Highlight: Catch mesmerizing views of Indrasan Peak and the valleys below.
Evening: Reach the campsite at Balu Ka Gera by late afternoon. Rest and enjoy the icy winds and golden sunset.

DAY 3Balu Ka Gera ➝ Hamta Pass (14,035 ft) ➝ Shea Goru (12,254 ft)

Early Start: Begin the toughest but most rewarding day of the trek. Ascend steep trails, boulder sections, and snow patches (depending on the season) to reach the Hamta Pass.
At the Pass: Panoramic views of Lahaul Valley, Deo Tibba, and Indrasan peaks. You’ll literally witness the stark contrast between the green Kullu Valley and barren Lahaul-Spiti landscapes.
Descent: From the pass, descend steeply for 2-3 hours to reach Shea Goru, a peaceful high-altitude grassland next to a glacial stream.

DAY 4Shea Goru ➝ Trek to Chhatru ➝ Drive to Chandratal (14,074 ft)

Morning: Start your descent through scree, loose rocks, and river crossings toward Chhatru (10,898 ft) – the first motorable point in Spiti Valley.
Drive Begins: From Chhatru, board a vehicle and embark on a thrilling drive along the rugged terrain toward Chandratal Lake (subject to road and weather conditions).
Evening at Lake: Experience the mystical beauty of the moon-shaped Chandratal Lake, nestled amidst the mountains. Camp near the lake under a starlit sky.

🏕 Stay: Tents near Chandratal

DAY 5Chandratal ➝ Drive back to Manali

Morning: After breakfast, begin the long drive back to Manali via Batal, Gramphu, and Rohtang Pass.
The route is rough yet jaw-droppingly beautiful, with plenty of stops for photos and rest.
Reach Manali by evening (depending on road conditions).

Consumption of alcohol, tobacco, or any illegal substances (including weed) is strictly prohibited throughout the event.
Kindly refrain from littering. Dispose of waste responsibly. Let’s commit to keeping our trails clean and pollution-free.
Hyderabad Trekking Company reserves the right to cancel any participant’s slot in case of misconduct or policy violations.
Please be punctual. Delays can cause inconvenience to others and disrupt the overall schedule.
Participants below the age of 18 must submit a parental consent form before joining the event.
Any changes to the itinerary or cancellations due to unforeseen circumstances will be communicated in advance/during the trek.
In case of sudden weather changes or safety concerns, the trek leaders/Local guides reserve the right to alter the plan or retreat from the activity.
All participants are expected to coordinate, stay disciplined, and function as a team throughout the event.
Do not expect luxury amenities. Please stay flexible and cooperative with fellow travelers.
While safety is our top priority, event organizers are not liable for severe injuries or unfortunate incidents.
No refund will be issued for no-shows or last-minute dropouts on the day of the event.

AGE CRITERIA :
Minimum age: 18 years (12+ kids allowed along with guardian or Parents)
Maximum age: 40Years. Those who are physically fit they can join this trek if the age group is above 40 and below 50.
